Ladysmith & District Historical Society
Dedicated to researching, recording and preserving the history
of  the Town of Ladysmith and its surrounding area.
And we'd like you to join us!

The Ladysmith of today is an award-winning heritage town, and was featured in the April 2000 issue of  Harrowsmith Magazine as one of the prettiest towns in Canada. All of us who live here will tell you there's no better place.

We are situated on the 49th parallel on the east coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. This small town was founded on coal,  and has had a colourful and vibrant history.

The Ladysmith & District Historical Society was formed in January 1999, and is gathering and collating information on local history. We are participating with other civic groups in plans to build a community heritage centre as a permanent home in which to house and preserve Ladysmith's heritage.
